As a photographer, I love to capture the little moments that other people might miss — I'm not into big, set-up shots and planned scenes. For me, the joy lies in getting people to be comfortable in front of a camera (so much so they forget its there) and their true personalities shining through into image

In 2012 I bought my first camera and started photographing gigs. One of the first people to give me a chance and let me work with their band was Dan (swipe for those OG photos 👉🏻). 7 years later, Dan asked me to photograph his wedding — yet again, he took a chance on me, as I'd never worked a wedding before (and I hope it paid off for the second time!). These photos will always mean so much to me — it was awesome to work with someone again who was there at the very very beginning of my love for photography and played a part in launching my professional career. I was incredibly touched to be asked to be a part of Dan and Mel's special day and I can't thank them enough for giving this dance photographer an opportunity to attempt something new. 💕 Can't wait to edit the rest of these! Following listening to the recent episode of The Track, I've been trying to do as much research as I can on the original swing dancers — but there's a disappointing lack of information out there. I was reminded about this class by Trisha at Birmingham Swing Festival (that I was absolutely enchanted by), where she told so many stories about the origins of moves and the people behind the names. I don't think I would be confident enough to type any out here for fear of misremembering. But I love it when teachers and dancers pass on this legacy — it puts so much magic into the dance for me.
